Baju Kurung Bayou Batik |
Flowy silks and nature-inspired designs graced the floors of Bayou Batik at their recent Ramadhan collection recently.
An inkling of the positive reception was seen in the guests who had their mobile phones on constant video mode as models paraded the label’s latest line of baju kurung in hand painted batik.
Founder Hazlina Zainuddin confirmed this collection would see five new baju kurung designs presented in differing variations-kaftan, layered, mini, peplum and the baju kurung riau.
“This season, our designs are focused on flora and fauna like butterflies, flowers and ferns,” she said.
Colours range from pastels to bold.
Materials are kept to silks, in variations of crepe, chiffon and jacquard-in a bid to preserve the soft, feminine rustle of exclusivity.
The fashion show also featured a hijab styling session with emcee, actress and model Anis Al Idrus who showed off three simple styles for guests to try out.
Non-Muslim guests who attended the show also sportingly took to the catwalk to show off their first attempts at hijab styling.
Hazlina herself awarded prizes to participants who came up with the most stylish folds.
The feel of Bayou, explained its founder, is simple yet classy and elegant.
“We don’t make our designs too bold,” said Hazlina.
However, she has not discounted the possibility of launching an edgier line should the niche arise.
“It will all depend on our customer’s preference,” she said.
